Short History Lesson
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I HOPE EACH OF YOU WILL TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS ENTIRE E-MAIL ; WHETHER YOU ARE DEMOCRAT, REPUBLICAN OR INDEPENDENT MATTERS NOT. BUT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WILL NEVER KNOW OF AMERICA'S PAST LOYALTY TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY, IF THEY DO NOT HEAR IT FROM THOSE WHO SPEND THE TIME TO E-MAIL SUCH RELEVANT TRUTH TO PEOPLE WE CARE ABOUT.......... It doesn't matter who you are, where you live, your religion, race, or sex. This is serious stuff. What a difference 60 years makes..!!! I know everyone has a different opinion on the war and our current President, But this article makes a lot of sense and I hope you will take 2 minutes and read it and give it some thought. I have never seen the 'situation' expressed any better in words! Recently I was talking to a friend about the upcoming election and the candidates. As we ended our discussion he said, 'The only decision you have to make is who you want sitting in that seat in the White House when - NOT IF - but 'when' we get hit again and millions of American lives are put at risk! You ain't gonna like losing.' President Bush did make a bad mistake in the war on terrorism. But the mistake was not his decision to go to war in Iraq. Bush's mistake came in his belief that this country is the same one his father fought for in WWII. It is not. Back then we had just come out of a vicious depression. The country was steeled by the hardship of that depression but they still believed fervently in this country. They knew that the people had elected their leaders so it was the people's duty to back those leaders . Therefore when the war broke out the people came together, rallied behind and stuck with their leaders whether they had voted for them or not or whether the war was going badly or not. And war was just as distasteful and the anguish just as great then as it is today. Often there were more casualties in one day in WWII than we have had in the entire Iraq war. But sad as the deaths and missing-in-action was, the people stuck together behind the President because it was their patriotic duty. Americans put aside their differences in WWII and worked together to win that war. Everyone from every strata of society from young to old pitched in. Small children pulled little wagons around to gather scrap metal for the war effort. Grade school students saved their pennies to buy stamps for war bonds to help the effort. (Yes, we actually did these things 'back then')........... Men who were too old or medically 4F lied about their age or condition trying their best to join the military. Women doubled their work to keep things going at home. Harsh rationing of everything from gasoline to soap to butter was imposed yet there was very little complaining. You never heard prominent people on the radio belittling the President. Interestingly enough in those days there were no fat cat actors and entertainers who ran off to visit and fawn over dictators of hostile countries and complain to them about our President. Instead they made upbeat films and entertained our troops to help the troops' morale. And a bunch even enlisted. And imagine this: Teachers in schools actually started the day off with a Pledge of Allegiance and with prayers for our country and our troops! Back then no newspaper would have dared point out certain weak spots in our cities where bombs could be set off to cause the maximum damage. No newspaper would have dared complain about what we were doing to catch spies. There were a lot of things different back then. We were not subjected to a constant bombardment of pornography, perversion, and promiscuity in movies or on radio. We did not have legions of crack-heads, dope pushers, and armed gangs roaming our streets. President Bush made the mistake of believing that we still had the courage, esprit de corps and fortitude of our fathers. He believed that this was still the country that our fathers fought so dearly to preserve. It is not the same country . It is now a cross between Sodom and Gomorrah and the land of Oz. We did unite for a short while after 9/11, but our attitude changed when we found out that defending our country would require some sacrifices. We are in great danger. The terrorists are fanatic Muslims. They believe that it is okay, even their duty to kill anyone who will not convert to Islam . It has been estimated that about one third or over three hundred million Muslims are sympathetic to the terrorists' cause... Hitler and Tojo combined did not have nearly that many potential recruits. So... We either win it - or lose it - and you ain't gonna like losing. America is not at war. Our military is at war. America is at the mall. I am glad that you took the couple of minutes to read this. I ask that you THINK ABOUT IT when you vote in November. Voting Democrat or Republican is most definitely YOUR CHOICE. Just remember what you have just read. However, millions of the younger generations will not even know what this is all about.......all we can do is try to inform.....try to help in any way we can! GOD BLESS YOU ALL, AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!! |

Backing someone just because they're president or an elected official is ridiculous.

Why doesn't the author bring up Vietnam in this? Maybe because Bush got to stay at home with the national guard, Cheney had 5 student deferments, Rove had student deferments, the list goes on and on for the chickenhawks. Why follow and die for men who tucked tail and hid when it was their time to go? They don't get my respect, not for a second.
And I think we need to keep the Islamic threat in perspective as I believe it's often blown wildly out of proportion. Take for instance, as horrible and tragic as 9-11 was, 3,000 people died, compare that with the UN's estimate of 34,000 Iraqi civilians killed in 2006 alone-combined with 36,000 injured... I think Americans often and repeatedly lose perspective. |

I am glad someone else has the sanity to see how stupid this, if you arent for president bush, you are unpatriotic shit is. My fathers died for my right to descend if I want, and to not agree. They didnt die just so I could be a follower with whatever good old government says is good for me.
I dont care who it is, just because we are at war doesnt mean that other problems disappear. Technically our military is at war all the time since we are fighting in many nations at once, so should we never say anything at all. Also, anyone who says we are bombarded with pornography pisses me off even more. You dont have to fucking listen to anything you dont want to, just as we dont have to listen to any of your christian conservative shit. There are many conservative stations on the radio and TV, watch them. Just because you dont think something is appropriate doesnt make it that way for the rest of the country. It is these radicals, both liberal and conservative, who all to often make the most noise and get shit their way rather than a more moderate approach that is favored by most of society. |

The problem is that the war is indefinable and could be indefinite. The war on terrorism could technically go on forever because someone somewhere is going to hate the US, but that doesnt mean we can ignore problems here, even if that means we are called unpatriotic.

Quote:
If this "war" continues on , it's not "could be" indefinite, but will most definitely without a doubt be indefinite. There's no end to this. There's no government or military the US is fighting, no president or dictator to combat, they're trying to fight beliefs and ideas, no matter how misguided or wrong they may be- you can't extinguish them... But I don't really believe these wars are about fighting terrorism, I think they're about establishing more US presence in the middle east, working to control resources in the region, and spreading American ideas/values/style of government- Paul Wolfowitz had this shit planned out in his doctrine years ago. |
