Same Sex (Gay) Marriages

I don't have a problem with gays or gay marriage. I believe in equal rights. If gay couples want to live miserably like the rest of Married America, I say let them!!

But here's what I think is pointless.

It's now official, California is now a state of the United States that makes same sex marriage legal. Ever since it became law, damn near every gay couple in California, including Star Trek's George Takei (a.k.a Mr. Sulu) and his partner, is running out to get hitched. But guess what? Come November, there will be a bill on the ballot to make all gay marriages ILLEGAL.

Therefore if we, the voters of CA, decide that we do not want to acknowledge same sex marriages as a real marriage, then it becomes illegal again. And therefore, every gay couple that spent thousands of dollars on their wedding have wasted their money because they are no longer legally married, according to the laws of the state of California.

Weddings aren't necessarily a waste of money whether they're legal or not.

You have a point about the upcoming legal wrangling, which is likely to cost the state millions if it drags out. What do you think will happen if couples spend thousands to get legally married and are then told they aren't? Can you say "lawsuit"? And some of those couples certainly have money to spend to make their point to a waffling state.

Doesn't the state have better things to spend money on than policing people's personal relationships?

I don't usually get involved in these rants or raves but pending a couple has gotten married when legal there were probably guidelines as there is with everything when they applied for a marriage license. Meaning things on the application paperwork that do not hold the state of CA liable should the VOTER'S of the state not want same sex marriage to be legal there. If not during that process of the license somewhere along the line there will be something that holds the State of CA free from a lawsuit. Also you would have to have an all gay jury to win the lawsuit anyway. Your trying to sue the state for something probably half of the jury vote NO to. They definitely need to stop interfering with peoples lives for sure when it comes to certain things such as this and let them be who they are. You know it goes directly against what you want to teach your children. That if you want your kids to be WHO THEY ARE not WHO EVERYONE WANTS THEM TO BE or THINKS THEY SHOULD BE. All of you that are fathers and mothers here and hate gays. What would you do if your son or daughter chose to puff on peters or decide to muff dive? Just curious? If your children are boys at 10 yrs old and still playing barbie with your daughter/s he is probably gay. J/K. Anyway, I would continue to be a dad to my some regardless what path he chooses to take in life. It would not make me love him any less.
