A friend of mine has good results using 20-40mg/day depending on the severity of his acne.

I had a bad reaction to isotretinoin, I broke out very very bad on it. Have bad scares now i need to get surgery for. My advice is if you get really bad and it does not clear up in 2 weeks Get of asap. i waited too long, i was told it get worse before it gets bettter, mine never got better. So be carefull! Not somthing to fuck with. And i did use chemone's So it works.

Isotrentinion is the active ingredient in accutane.
I've used it at both 10mgs daily and 20mgs--it works. My decision to used accutane is probably different than most. I don't have a lot of acne, it's just that in my mid-forties, I don't feel I should have any--I haven't been a teenager for a quarter of a century and there's a time some things simply need to be done with. I've gotten about one zit a day or so ever since the sever acne I had as an adolescent cleared up (in my early 20's). And having a fair completion, a bad zit will scar me for over a year. I started using Isotrentinion at 10mgs per day and found it to be fairly effective, cutting me down to about one or two new zits a week—none of which advanced to cystic state (hence no scarring acne since about 20 days after I started using it). So, listening to ORBIS’s cautionary tale, you might start at that dosage. And mine acne never got worse, it merely remained unaffected until about 20 days in. However, as I stated my pathology is different that those commonly encountered when this drug is being considered. If you're using HRT supplementation of any kind, I might consider moving to 20mgs at least. The side effects I noticed include dry skin and lips (which my body compensated for after about a month), a flushed complexion (which never compensated) and I’m sure elevated liver enzymes (though I have no blood work to confirm that). ORBIS's response seems extreme, however when self administering drugs, prudence is always a useful policy. Hope that helps, Ronn

I appreciate all the responses. Still considering. I've used minocycline, didnt really work. Used special soaps, proactive (which works for my face), but I've started to get bad acne on my back and chest, so I gotta try something.

accutane made me want to jump out a window. cystic acne would make me want to slit my wrists. for me it was lose/lose.

i used chemones and it worked well... i really noticed the dryness on the inside of my nose and scalp... i took 40mgs per day for about 30 days... ive been off for like 3 months and its starting to come back... i guess best advice is to play with the dose until you find what works for you... go up until you cant handle sides.... keep that dose for 4-6 months and some say its a permanent solution... i had a friend do 80mgs per day for 5 months and never got the acne back but he was under a doctors care and gettting regular blood work... good luck!
