Default How much whey protein?

How do you determine how much protein you need after a workout. I know a standard number is 40 grams but is there a specific calculation based on lbm?

IMO 60 grams 30 mins after workout....I dont believe there is a specific. Just use LBM to calculate the "total" amount of protein per day.

If I were you I'd look into a faster absorbtion protein for after workouts instead of whey right now I use waxymaize for carbs mixed with a product called afterglow bcaas aakg arginine glutamine and creatine...trueprotein.com has a pepto pro protein that you can get which is also good

Its not so much about getting the protein right after your workout, but more so about getting in the right amount over the day.

I do agree that you need to get a certain amount in during the day, but right after your workout your body NEEDS nutrients. It is the most anabolic state your body will be in all day, and PWON to me is one of the most importants parts to bodybuilding.

You need protein and carbs after a work out. What I do is drink a protein shake right after my last set for the day then when I get home I have a turkey sandwich.

People...lets take a step back to reality. Unless you are working out in the AM on an empty stomach, dont freak out about getting a "fast" absorbing protein. After a workout your body still has nutrients flowing through it...it may not be much, but dont stress about the molecular weight and whey...etc...
Just take a protein shake. "KISS" people...just get the right amount through out the day. If that means 40g after a workout or 80g.

Why say "people" when youre clearly addressing me? I do understand your point, and I am not saying that you need a fast acting protein right after your workout. But you do NEED some form of nutrition right after, and for me that is a whey shake along with some waxy maiize.

There may be some nutrients in my system, but I want more than enough for my body to utilize.
