Ok so what is a good age too get on gear if you are going to anyway? I think this is one of the biggest controversy's in the sport! This is what i have heard over the years. The older more experienced guys all say the young guys shouldn't be on gear. As the young guys all say I'm old enough and i want to look good. Now i feel 99.9% of the time the vets are absolutely correct the majority of young men want it for the wrong reasons and most of them don't know what there doing they just think hey its faster and cheaper then doing it naturally first which is true. But one thing i have noticed over the years is that all men are not made equal! I personally started dabbling around with gear when i was 18 yeah a bit young but then again my first cycle was just Winny. which is not a point to be made because it can still reek havoc on your body if you don't know what you are doing. but at 18 i was pretty much done growing all my bones were fused. Now I'm just talking about me. One thing i want to say too all the young guys is listen to the vets they were in your shoes at one point and they have done what your about to do and or know what could happen when you do it! At the same token your going to do what your going to do so pay attention and learn i was on the boards reading for 2 years prior to my first cycle of 50Mg ed of Winny for 6 weeks... yeah some of you guys might say what a wast and or thats stupid, but you have know idea how YOUR body is going to react compared to the next person... I personally haven't ever had any bad sides from anything i have taken but i cant say the same for some of my Buddy's. Ive also walked into the gym and seen and talked to countless guys that are not taking gear the right way and have no idea what PCT is, shit Ive seen them here on the boards... No i am no expert and well i don't think there is anyone out there that can say they are the fact of the matter is we are not all made equal so what one guy says works for him may not for you. What i have done over the years is take a collection of what others have done and or are doing and i fit it in for me... the majority of guys on these site are not all in the BB sport Merle BB for self and health. Ive had Buddy's say to me yeah i think I'm going to run 1000mg of test and stack it with other things everyone on the boards say its sweet, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN HIS 3RD CYCLE... this is why most of us younger guys get the whole your too young and dumb don't use gear. and i agree with allot of the vets. To the vets keep throwing your knowledge at us i love it and too the young guys like my self role with the punches. some things you hear the vets say my apply to you and my not. but most of the vets don't know you personal so were all thrown in a bracket... I personal feel there are probable allot of guys on the boards that shouldn't be on gear and helping the media destroy our beloved sport. but there allot of guys like my self eager to learn and one day obtain the knowledge you vets have... Just my 2 cents on the big debate of age vs juice!
Stay safe and happy learning! ![]() Fatdog, |

My personal opinion on when to start juicing is when the person has reached there natural maximum size by dieting and lifting. Like you said everyone is different and for someone who started lifting when they were very young that could mean 19 or 20 years old. Most people get bad info and start with high doses that leave them nowhere to go. They should start at as low of an effective dose as they can and build with each cycle. Of course aas are an aid and not a short cut to good quality muscle, only time and a good diet will get you there.

my opinion is if you are starting at 19 or 20 you better be going into comps, not just a recreational bodybuilder. If your not competing wait until your 21 or 22, because there is no need to start early

We all want it for the wrong reason... Vanity. Either way you look at it its vanity. Looking good for some girl, to make people look at you in the gym or even to win contest by looking more conditioned and more muscular then the rest. Its vanity in my eyes. I for one am all for it. If I was 16 when I found AAS I would have done it. I was a dumbass but I also dont condone it at that age either.
If a kid has the hook up and his mind is made up theres nothing you can do but tell him. In one ear and out the other. Sosa |

I really do believe the later you start the better... Understand diet and training before you jump into the aas use.

If you are not intending to compete professionally (i.e. the potential risks of AAS use are outweighed by the sponsorship monies you believe you can earn--whether in PL or BB), then I agree with baddog--start when you’ve reached you're genetic limits.
However, I find the idea that someone could reach this state in their mid 20's fairly difficult to believe. I'm a naturally small person by genetics, but I've been lifting very consistently since I was 17 (never more than a few months off). And I was making new PR well into my mid 30's. I’m not a big guy, the kind of person who seems to grow by merely looking at weight—I’m exactly the opposite—yet I still had not reached the end of the genetic line until about 38. I suppose it's possible to hit you limit at 25--I've just never experienced or seen that for myself. I started using when I was 42, when it had been clear for a few years that I was not progressing anymore, and admittedly part of my reasons for using have to do with what we might call "age management." Some might stand amazed at how many of us are willing to dramatically alter the profile of out endocrine system without a PhD in the subject—we’ll call someone to fix our furnace but well happily be our own endocrinologist. We’re and odd bunch, that’s for sure. And honestly, I'm not sure a 22 year old whose desire for a physical aesthetic so easily outweighs his understanding of the potential risks is in the right place to make those decisions. So I say, unless you’re trying to be a pro—wait till your mid 30’s (or in my case, when a low 400’s dead lift had been it for the last 4 years). Ronn

I think once your growth plates have closed and you have a good diet and training regimen you are ready. With a few years of steady consistant training under your belt, most people are as ready as they are gonna be.

I didn't start til I was 25. I'm now 49. Make sure you've tried to reach your natural potential before starting.

The ideal age for using gear is the age where you can take all aspects of using it, like a man/woman.
If you have a bad temper, stay away until you get it under control. If you use recs ( besides the occassional joint, I can give that a pass ), please, stay away. If you can't keep from running your mouth or being the bigshot, stay away. If you have an ego problem, stay away. If you wanna brag about using, stay away. If you have an addictive personality, stay away. If you can't control your behavior, stay away. If you wanna use to be the tough guy at the club, stay away. If you are immature, stay away. There is no magic age, besides being at least 21. This is not aimed at the OP, it is aimed at anyone reading this and wanting to "Just juice it up to get all the Ho's, and bitch slap the lesser bro's" and meet any of the other above criteria. And yeah, I've had a douche tell me that's why he started using. That genius was using 100 mg of dbol a day. |

I agree I didn't start using until I was 27 and I had been training hard and consitently since I was about 15. I also had two kids and don't plan on having anymore. I think young guys jump on for whatever reason without thinking things through and are totally clueless what could happen.
