Re: DEA nabbs world's most reputable arms dealer?
What I want to know is what are we doing luring foreign nationals from their home countries (this used to be called entrapment) so they can be arrested. To me, this is complete bullshit. Viktor Bout is not a US citizen, but he was a US intelligence asset and supplied arms on behalf of the US government. Does Noriega or Saddam ring a bell? Our government uses these people up and when they no longer serve our purpose we freeze their bank accounts (steal money) and imprison (or kill) them. And our gov. is not just doing this to foreign presidents and arms dealers, just last year they abducted the CEO of an online sports book from his hotel (while he was on vacation) in the Dominican Republic. This CEO was not a US citizen and operated his online sports book in Costa Rica. He was handcuffed in the hotel lobby and stuffed in a plane because US citizens were betting on his site. And why is the DEA involved in arresting Bout? It's because he supplied arms to FARC, so since FARC grows coca this makes Viktor Bout a drug trafficker??? For the sake of argument, lets say that it does. Is this not a problem for Columbia? This is just more of the failed 'War on Drugs'.
I'll get off my high horse now, this 'World Police' stuff makes me angry.
