With the new Board Rules in place for the classies, posts in the "new member intros" should NOT count. Im sure thereare some who will only post in "new member intros" just to get there post count up.
Like Anon had said about contributing... how are these posts contributing? Im sure some of you will agree and Im sure some of you will disagree. BUt I personally think they are pointless and take up space. |

Yup I knew I wasn't the only one noticing it to me really its kinda annoying I mean ya we should welcome new members and all but you can tell the guys who are just trying to post and post to reach requirments I just wrote about this in anons thread but he's on top of that and said it himself that they won't reach requiments and have to actually help people out

I agree with the two preceding posts. On another board where I was a vet, it was considered part of our job to welcome the new people. A newbie welcoming another newbie means little; a vet welcoming the newbie means the board is welcoming them.
On the other hand, we could get a backlash of new people deliberately not posting in the welcome section for fear they will be perceived as "post whoring." Ronn

POINT IS THEY SHOULD COUNT TOWARD VIEWING CLASSIES. NOT THAT YOU SHOULD WELCOME PPL. I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT POST COUNT OR STATUS. ITS WHAT YOU CONTRIBUTE. I CAN SAY HI THE 200 PPL FOR THE NEXT 6 MONTHS THATS EASY. DOESNT BUILD REP, OR TRUST FROM ANYONE BY DOING JUST THAT.
ITS FUNNY HOW A NEW RULE IS PUT IN PLACE AND YOU SEE 10 NEW INTROS IN A ROW WHEN THESE PPEPS HAVE BEEN ON THE BOARD SINCE LAST YEAR. WORKING THE SYSTEM AND i DONT AGREE WITH IT. |

I can see both sides here, I think if the majority of the people that are posting mostly in the "Intro" part of the board just to get there post count up, then I think that the decision should be made by the people who run this board. (Admins and Mods)
But u have to all remember that people join this board to learn. Not everyone on here are experts and if they cant give advice or make a comment that pertains to the subject at hand what are they suppost to post. I'm sure people want to contribute to the board but they need to learn before they can make comments about certain things. If they cant post on threads and only on the "intro part" at least they are getting noticed by people and in time I'm sure they will contribute more. |

I don't know that both of these arguments aren't mutually exclusive. I mean, yes, it is important for Vets or members to welcome the newbies and make them feel welcome. At the same time, just like in every other aspect of our society, there are going to be people who are looking to take advantage and twist something to their own ends - just as the people doing the post whoring in the member intros and by posting the pictures of every conceivable steroid and lab that in the ancillary section that are, even as I type this, multiplying like rabbits on crystal meth.
In the end, all we can really do is keep our own side of the street clean and make sure that our motives are clear. That we are welcoming members for the right reasons and not to see our post counts soar. If we are doing the right things for the right reasons, then fuck everybody else. I do know one thing, though, and it is that a sure way to piss off Anon is to blatantly be a post whore to find a loop hole around something that he implemented for the security of the entire board and its members. I'm sure that if things get too blatant or out of hand, that it won't go unnoticed (or unpunished) by our fearless leader. |

What builds rep? I think more than anything CONSISTENCY. Being here on a regular basis, interacting with different kinds of discussions, and getting to know other members thru PM's as well as posts, one at a time. Not 20 posts in a day all in one section and then nothing for a week. I've known members who built a rep here in a matter of months and still have less than 100 posts, but people know who they are......and then there are others who have been here since the beginning (3 years ago i think) and have 500+ posts. Either way is okay, but its all about being REAL. the real you, not what you think others want you to be. theres enough of those types of members on all the other boards.
