Site suggestion

I think we need a chat box on this board. Just for the pure reason that since we re still a small board it would help us come closer as bro's. Example, right now there are two peple on, myself and Tigerizme. I woldn't mind talkin with him about a few things AAS related since he is here. While we were talking if another bro came on he could join in and instead me Tiger or myself leaving the board and doing other things we could more then likley hang around more and so on and so on. Thats just my .02

However sometimes Chat boxes take away from posts in the forums...sometimes things get discussed and only a few folks get to see what it talked about...if it were posted it would be here for good and then thats when an ok board becomes a great one IMO....when you can do a search and many things come up to read and ledarn about..........just my $0.02.

I have been on many auto and ATV forums over the last many years and a mod, and sponsor on many of them......one one of the boards ( a very technical orieneted ATV forum) so many topics started being discussed in the chat box that we had to turn it off and only have it on at a set time on set days. It worked out well cause we got to "chat with others" but the forum was still used to share information with ALL the members cause questions were posted in the forum where all could read all the time.

Food for thought......however I know nothing.

heres the problem with chat boxes:

1) they're a huge memory hog on the board.....thats why boards with chatboxes take so long to load. they also waste bandwidth horribly.

2) words posted in the chatbox will come up on search engines....not good security wise. this means chatboxes have to be constantly moderated and this is not going to become a high maintence board.

3) yes, they do detract from posts on the board....and can also cause conflict between members because people dont think about what they type before posting it, like you do when you post to the forum. how many times have you seen members get in fights on the SSB chatbox? i dont want that here....its hard enough keeping Five_8 under control.


if you guys want to chat then exchange AIM or Cyber-rights messenger screennames....there is a post in the Security Forum about C-R Messenger accounts already.

I agree.. If anything it's great to have the information posted in the forum so that we can point people to the answers they seek and allow them to oppurtunity to research before posting some of those Drinking Winny questions.

I didn't know about the chat box being able to be searched with yahoo or whatever. Security is much more important. I get our points though, again it was only a thought.
