I am having an issue with my deads. I have been stuck at 655lbs. I can pull it abut 6inches off the ground quick, but then just stall. this has happend sever times. I have never had a problem with this before. if I could get the weight off the ground it would go up.
what can i do to help with this? thanks |

Now I am not a power lifter but when I was stuck at my lowly 315 I went to the west side barbell club site and read. Now 650 is way beyond what this old man will ever try but my goal was 375 which is just over 1.5 times my body weight what I used was rack pulls and speed work to get beyond my plateau.
If west side barbell doesn't have some information for you I don't know who would good luck. Westside BarbellŪ"Often Imitated but never duplicated"

since you are good off the ground, rack pulls may help you through your sticking point. With rack pulls you can put more weight on the bar than you could typically handle and focus on your lock out which seems to be the portion which you are struggling with. I am currently training for a meet this Friday and used a routine by Coan which focused on speed work after your work sets and not sure if it helped, but I did eclipse my old PR with a 660 pull a week ago, I hope to pull more in my meet. I agree with Lockk and would try rack work and speed work.

i have pulled almost 8 and am sure i could have at my best, have done 7 natty and 'speed' work is not a logical or efficient way to improve your dead. there are to manny Qs to ask to give a blanket answer. how often you dead? whats your split? what is the rest of your back WO like? etc...

I was stuck at 620 for a year. Louie Simmons told me to quit deadlifting instead he put me on a program where I rotated Zercher Squats with Good Mornings. When I got to the point where I could do 405x6 in the GM I was pulling 725 in full meets.
