I posted this on one of my old boards and wanted to put it up here for you all to see. I stand by everything i say as I have accumulated this knowledge over many years. Enjoy.
--------------------------------- Over the years I've battled problem skin and have through countless instances, formulated a code to clear skin. This is of course my own personal opinion, but coming from someone who is 25 and still has to worry about the spots popping up and has been for the last 10+ yrs, I feel that I am of sufficient knowledge to instruct those who may be struggling with breakouts, looking for an answer and dont want to go the accutane route. Mind you, my skin has never been severe or cystic in its nature of breakouts, but it is a constant nonetheless. If this thread helps just one person out there acheive a clear complexion, then I have succeeded and this write-up will have been worth the effort. Without further ado, read on, and glean the wisdom I am about to impart.... 1. Do NOT drink fat free milk. I read of a study a year or two ago that showed how the hormones rapidly shifted from the growth factors present in milk nowadays and without some fat present, the change is sudden and can cause flare-ups. long story short, I dont know the specific knowledge behind this, but i do know that I have tested this theory multiple times on myself, and lo and behold when I drink 1% and follow my other precautions, I am able to keep a clear face. As soon as I switch to fat free, I notice a spot or two setting in. take it to the bank. its real. 2. Change your pillowcase EVERY night. I once saw a used pillowcase under a special light on a skin program on TV and it looked like a pizza had been placed on it when all of a sudden the oil residue became visible. This is crucial. Even skipping one night can defeat the effort. 3 Supplement with Co-Q10. this was the final piece to the puzzle for me. this completed the masterpiece. once I stop taking this supplement, I break out, without fail. 100mg a day is what I use, which can be very pricey, but I shopped around and found a steal. if you look carefully enough, youll find a similar quality product at a very reasonable price. 50 mg should be enough though I wouldn't go any lower per day. this is a make or break adjunct. believe it. 4. Always stay hydrated. Easy, predictable...hydrated skin can flush toxins much more readily and it really does wonders for the appearance. 5. Keep your cortisol in control! very important. Dont overtrain and more importantly get your sleep. you may be able to get away with this one for a day or so...but after that, for me..my skin goes on a rampage. obviously cortisol is playing a part here and from my long-term experience, if it gets too high, your face starts rebelling against the stress. 7 or 8 hours a night will go a long way towards keeping you clear. 6. Dont eat Shyt. I dont care how many doctors or dermatologists say food doesnt effect your skin. When I eat junk my skin almost always reacts badly...its not a placebo effect..its not coincidence..it is what it is bc its real. one fatty meal may not do it...but if you keep at it..say good bye to that oxyclean face. Eat healthy colorful food e.g. fruits and vegetables and make sure you get your EFA's. 7. Do not use a scrub on your face. use a gentle cleanser in bar form or lotion. I used scrubs for years and they irratate sensitive skin like mine to such a detriment, that they may serve more the opposite purpose than what they are made for. 8. Wash your face first thing in the morning, and then right before bed. these are the two most crucial times. dont wash too many times a day or you may cause a breakout due to excess irritation.(note: AND after a workout, no matter what.) 9. Never dry your face with anything but a clean towel that has never been used yet since the last time it was washed. I keep a ready supply of hand towels folded up in the closet for just this purpose. do not use your body towel on your face. it carries mass amounts of germs. 10. Keep your hands off your face at all costs. I really dont need to explain why..those little filthy digits are the harbingers of filth. And there you have it. if you have problem skin as I do, and want to take an offensive against the problem, I have just outlined a plan that I am confident will yield unbelievable results. I knows its a lot of rules to follow, but it is what it is, and its everything I do to keep my skin looking completely clear, when its really not meant to be with my genetic characteristics. I hope this helps someone out there, perhaps a bit younger, someone not unlike myself maybe...find some of their lost confidence again, and improve their quality of life. bad skin is usually a big joke to those who have never had the problem themselves, but to those of us who have fought it and dreaded it for most of our lives, I know this protocol isnt asking too much when considering the return on investment. peace. |
