Recently dropped 35lbs in 6-months no cardio just by cutting BEER and alcohol completely out of my diet. I know it sucks know drinking in the bar. Im doing more of a aerobic workout (higher reps) It's truly amazing how much alcohol messes with your body.

I haven't drank in over a 1.5 years, first time in my life. Im an alcoholic and in the last years of my life stopped working out because of the daily drinking. This is after 15 years of working out and competed when i was 27, 196lbs light-heavy (im 35 now). Found this forum in the last months started working out again, and started running a test/tren a cycle last week!!

Ditto caveman. Alcoholism took me out of the game here for 2 years. Last time i logged in here was pretty much the last day of lifting for me. I believe it was 7/07. I wrecked a brand new truck with 1800 miles on it. Almost lost a new home and the wife I have now. just about went to prison over the whole deal. Left my bodybuilding behind, hired the best attorney I could find and I held onto everything except for the new truck, it was demolished. Thank the Lord that no one was hurt. A/A for me for life and the help of God and my family I will remain sober. Bodybuilding is a lifestyle for me and just now getting back into it. Its a terrible disease and has no room in this sport whether you are an alcoholic or not IMO. There are people that can handle it and I wished I was one of them but I dont miss it at all. This is funny though because if you read this thread up a few I posted a couple of years ago that I did drink and I knew I was an alcoholic then but figured I could handle it. Glad to see you are hitting it hard brotha! Stay sober!

Gave up drinking specifically to improve my physique - can't take the calories, poor sleep, lack of energy any more. Back in my twenties my brother and I used to hit the bars every night after working out (sometimes before....). Not any more - the benefits just don't outweigh the disadvantages anymore. Just wasted calories and a bad effect on your metabolism...
