Default how many capsules at a time?

I was wondering if there is any research on this subject, or any thoughts.

If you guys are anything like me, you probably swallow a handful of supplements a few times a day. Fish oil, Acetyl Lcar, saw palmetto, multi vitamins, sesamin, ALA, milk thistle, you name it. I was wondering if it';s a better idea to break these up over several times a day. Do you think our body will only compete for wehat it needs when there is an influx of foreign substances? I guess, if I'm gonna spend all this money on Supplements, I want to make sure I'm getting the most out of them. Right now, I basically swallow a handful of capsules 3 times a day. What do you think?

A few times a day definitely...keep the levels up and replenished.

Ever swallow a bunch of fish oil and get the burps?? Or a bunch of powder contained caps and you burp up powder???? YUCK to both!

I split mine up several times a day; I even split things like my multi. I also do not take my vitamins in huge bursts; I take the vitamins I supplement in the morning and at night, so that I'm not overwhelming my body with the vitamins and pissing them out. It seems that for most things that there is a certain amount the body can take in, then it's excreted. I take one of my multi pills at breakfast and one at lunch. I take pills like 4 times a day; breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack/before workout, and dinner. Splitting more than that is inconvenient for me.

LOL, The fish oil Burps are the worst.

I guess what I was saying is, if we put like 15 different supps ion our body at the same time, are our bodys kind of overloaded and eliminating a decent amount of what we ingest, as opposed to talking a few different things every few hours so that the supps aren't competitors for absorbtion into the body. Does this make sense? Forgive me, I'm more bored than anything right now, but have always been curious about this.

I think I have a different opinion on the matter. It depends on how long it takes to absorb whatever it is that you are taking. It doesn't seem to me like the liver would be working any harder with one pill in the morning or 9 depending on how long it takes to absorb into your bloostream. As far as the splitting dosages that would be the half life of the product it is you are taking. If its anything less than 24 hours then yeah start taking more than one dose. I guess I'd have to do some research to effectively answer the question. IMO for now though I don't think there is a difference in liver values after you have swallowed 2 or 10 pills. I'll definitely check though.

Yeah, I've been searching around a little. It's more my curiosity more than anything. Plus, if I'm spending all this money on Supplements, I'd like to get the most out of them.

Yeah but some supps you have to take like 3 grams a day, that's pretty rough to do all at one time. Some others get stored in your fat making a buildup potentially toxic while others the extra ends up in the toilet.
