If you are talking about the HIT training Mike Mentzer was teaching people I don't recall any cardio stuff at all. I recently bought a new version of his book and the amount of days you work out is very little and your to do nothing on the days you don't train.

I used it to a certain extent when getting ready for a show and it worked really well but I did burn up some muscle. I did it on the treadmill mainly and it went:
2:00 min walk at 3.5 mph
1:30 min jog at 6.5 mph
1:30 min sprint at 8.0 mph

I usually did this for 30-40 minutes.

For cardio, this is what I do:

for just one a days, i do the incumbent bike, 45 minutes, I keep my HR between 130-190, i try to shoot for the higher end.

for two a days, i do the incumbent bike in the morning, and at night on an empty stomach and right before bed i do the threadmill, put the incline ALL the way up, and the speed at 3.0 miles per hour.

Both sessions work my quads and hamstrings very well, especially if you place just your heels on the footpads on the bike, that works your hamstrings, and when you place your big toe on the pads, that works your quads more. the treadmill method really works your calves and your legs very well as well, which is nice. You burn more calories, AND you make the most of your time by developing your legs as well.

Hope this helps.

What he's talking about is high intensity interval training. a principle based on performing a certain execise at your V02 max for a period of seconds or a couple minutes, then either active rest(walk it out) or a lower level of intensity(light jogging) if youre heart's up to snuff.

I remember the best fat loss i ever was able to reap was from HIIT on a long dead end street. I would sprint halfway down the street as fast as i could(what a fuckin' rush), then at the halfway point..id walk it out the other half..once i got down to the end of the street...id run back to that halfway point..took about 45 seconds to get there sprinting full on. did this 5 times and was done...knocks the fuckin piss outta ya..so make sure all you bros rest up good and eat up good if youre gonna employ HIIT.
