ok guys so i played my first softball game in 3yrs couple weeks ago and loosened up and stretched and everything..felt great....
First pitch i dip my shoulder and rip into it. Line drive right off the left center fence, but i felt something in my shoulder. Freakin' killled!!! Been sore ever since..some days are better than others. I'm wondering if i pulled it or something like i turned my shoulder to pull the bat but was gripping harder with my right?? Make since?? Anyways its not getting better and i need it too...any ideas on what it could be. The pain is on the left lateral deltoid. Advice and opinions gladly accepted on rehab or doc or ice or heat or what. i did the same thing about a month ago when i hit the batting cages again for the first time in years. it felt like it was in my rotator cuff. honestly, it hurt like hell for 2-3 weeks and gradually healed. it feels fine now. i think it was a minor tear.

Here is my standard answer: ice and heat therapy along with complete rest and 800mg of Ibuprofen 3X a day. If after a week it still hurts go to the doctor. It's impossible for anyone, especially non MD's, to say what's wrong with you so be careful about fishing for medical advice over the internet.

i just dont wanna pay for any treatment...
Anonymizer---thats what it kinda feels like i think..not sure...never tore a rotator before..i was doing Ibuprofen at 800-1000mg 2x daily and iceing it at night but been so busy with the new house i hadnt really been following it lately. What u think ICE for 20 then HEAT for 20?? i need to go buy one of those long ace bandages so i can wrap it like the pitchers do in MLB Thanks fellas |

Try naproxen for the pain....2 twice a day with food. I tore the labrums in both shoulders and the naproxen really helped in knocking down the pain....until I had surgery.

Add 200mg/wk of Deca to your regimen and lay off any exercise involving your shoulder completely for 2-3 weeks and I think it will heal up like mine did.
in the future look into this wonderful device called a Shoulder Horn....they still sell them on the net. Its great for making your rotator cuffs strong.

I"ll look into the Shoulder Horn.
As far as naproxen..dont think i need it. Most of pain is when i wake up from laying on it or when i move it in the wrong direction. As far as the DECA goes i was thinking about that actually. It's either that or a trip to the DR. |

Chop...I had a minor tear of my rotator cuff...It was a "deep" pain to military press or even overhead tri ext....Mine took quite some time to heal...where is the pain on/in the deltoid? Mine was near my rear deltoid and just had to use low weight, high rep workouts on it...worked well...Im still having some pain, but It comes and goes....my injury was from a "fit" i had that was so violent I tore my rotator cuff, lol ouch
