Before anyone tells me I don't know what I'm talking about, know that I went to Catholic Grade School (1 - 8), was raised in a strict Catholic household, and me, my wife, and children are practicing Catholics.

But, can you believe the number of children molested by the Priests in the Los Angeles Dioceses so that they had to pay out 660 MILLION dollars???!!! I could not believe it and had to hear it twice just to confirm what I thought I had heard. What needs to be done at a minimum is that every Priest or employee of the LA Dioceses implicated in this pedophile activity that is still alive needs to be rounded up and placed in some sort of Concentration Camp till they die. I know this sounds naziesque, but c'mon, these people need to atone for this ON EARTH first before they go to the great beyond.

Really, if you look at it in a pure sense, the Catholic Church needs to shut down for about 10 to 20 years and fire and/or flush out every pedophile Priest, Choir Master, etc... until they are reasonably certain they got rid of all of them, then re-open. If one Dioceses can afford to pay out 660 MILLION dollars (God Damn that's a lot of money!), I'm sure the Vatican can shut down for 10 years and not even put a dent in their holdings.

The topping on the cake was in the fall of 2005. I went deer hunting with my buds from the "old neighborhood." Come to find out, over half of them brought up the fact that the Choir Master was "fiddling around" with them...WTF!!! But, none of them pursued legal action because they didn't want it in the newspapers. Fuck, I would have had my lawyer cut the church deep, wide and continuous had it been me.

This LA thing has me so furious, it would be fine with me if I never walked into a Catholic church again, but I need to keep the kids faithful. This whole thing is just awful.

I have to agree with you!! Its a sad situation!! What is a parent supose to do! You try to install go standards and moral strength in your family and children, and then people who are supose to be the most respected and helping to teach these thing are the people ccommitting one of the most awful crimes there is!!! What is this world coming to!!!

Well first thing I could not believe it myself! I dont actually buy it. All those people and they get a million bucks a piece but not one mouth opened out of all those people, uh yeah.. Now I thought about all that for a little bit and then I got mad because I was raised Baptist! Why couldnt I have been raised Catholic and cashed in on a clean million! I'm Catholic as well. This is crazy and fucked up. I am sure though that many of these had to be false. I mean why only the Catholic's? I think it was a band wagon thing, people seen other people makin cash and decided it was an easy way to do it. But I am sure MANY of them were legit and the "priests" should be killed. I have 4 kids and I swear to God, i would send that man to hell if it was my kid.

Why dosen't the catholic Church let the preists get married? The Bible says it's ok. Why does the Catholic Church pray to saints? The Bible says that is not ok. Why do they worship Mary? Huge No No on that one. Why do they teach purgitory or prayer for the dead? All Biblicallly inaccurate. Why do they baptise babies? All wrong. Why do they chant canned prayers that mean nothing? Sounds more like a cult to me. Clearly the Catholic Church does the same things the Pharasies did that Jesus rebuked which got him crucified.

If you want to keep your kids faithful Ten Man, try an evangelical church instead where they can learn who God/Jesus is and not learn religion that leads to nothing.

Remember, just because you go to church dosen't mean you are saved and going to Heaven.

Just because one goes to church everytime the doors are open and sings a few hymns and for the most part are good people, doesn't earn your way into to heaven...I get tired of people saying well if GOD is love and forgiving then he will forgive you. Well, thats true, but the only way he forgives is if you accept him to be your LORD and Saviour. Thats the ONLY WAY... to get into to heaven. Doesn't matter how good you are. You can earn your way in.

How about you educate us "simple" evangelicals on Catholicism and its practices?

And I'm going to agree with Dr. X and highnmity. You can't earn your way to Heaven, and you can't earn your salvation. Jesus said, "No man comes to the Father but by me." So, do Catholics actually believe that salvation comes through Jesus, or does it come through other means? If by other means, then it's contradiciting the Word of God.
