I hope this is not too far O/T. Crohn's and Colitis treatments are near and dear to me. Thought I would share this. Most doctors today still do not commonly prescribe HGH and Test.
"Hormonal Treatment Aids Crohn's Patients Human growth hormone combined with a high-protein diet significantly eased the symptoms of Crohn's disease in three-quarters of patients with moderate to severe cases, a study has found. Crohn's affects the digestive tract, causing persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, bleeding and a breakdown of the intestinal wall. About half of Crohn's patients require surgery to remove intestinal obstructions or repair holes in the bowel. No cure is known, although drugs can ease symptoms. The study in Thursday's issue of the New England Journal of Medicine [AE Slomin, MD. A Preliminary Study of Growth Hormone Therapy for Crohn's Disease; NEJM 2000;342(22):1633-7] found that 11 of 19 adults treated with growth hormone while on a high-protein diet went into remission. Three others improved significantly. Eighteen patients taking a dummy drug while on a high-protein diet saw no significant improvement. The study was supported by grants from Eli Lilly and Company and the Genetech Foundation for Growth and Development, a nonprofit organization that receives financing from Genetech Inc. Both pharmaceutical companies make growth hormone. As many as one million Americans suffer from Crohn's disease, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America said. Moderate to severe Crohn's disease is diagnosed in up to 120,000 people each year. Several anti-inflammatory and immune-suppressing drugs can send the disease into remission but do not prevent long-term relapse. Other drugs prevent relapse in some patients but do not make the disease go into remission. The leader of the new study, Dr. Alfred Slonim of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y., said growth hormone caused few harmful side effects in children and adolescents who had taken it for years. If further studies find the growth hormone is effective for long-term treatment of Crohn's, it may prove safer than current remedies, Dr. Slonim said. The cause of Crohn's is unknown, but one theory is that infections or hereditary factors weaken the intestinal wall, making it more susceptible to inflammation and tissue breakdown when it comes in contact with disease-causing organism. An exaggerated immune response may also play a role." Usually covered by insurance if they speak with the prescribing doctor. Not sure if I can post the Docs name. Google text from article to find. Peace Out! |

I have UC and Croans and am trying GH within the next few days, ill let you know how it goes as far as test it is amazing. at my sickest i dropped from a comp weight of 235 down to 118 and couldnt friggin walk, the test gave me what i needed to kick back. now it has been one hell of a roller coster since Aug of 2001, but many docs have said that without the test there would be little chance of me still being here. after 36 surgeries and countless drugs and cycles im back to up to 272 off season weight. havent gotten back into competing but am looking forward to it in the near future.

Whoa! 235 down to 118. I feel for you bro. Welcome Back! Glad to hear your are back on track. My wife has Crohn's and UC and has gone through three major flare ups. She is a lightweight already, about 112-115 usually, and got down to 84 lbs before being hospitalized. Thought we might lose her. She actually started to have a flare up and we started her on HGH and she bounced right back in a few days. In our experience HGH played a major part in putting her back into remission and she has not had a flare up since being on HGH at 1.5 IU a day. They ever give you Remicade?
Let us know how you feel/progress on the HGH! Peace Out! |

Thanks yall I iwill share this info with my mom she has had chrohns for some time with nothing to help her, she just stops eating, and maybe eats once a day, with her cutoff time at 4pm. She cannot take any medicine as it makes her sicker, and I tried giving her acidophillus and that made her worse. Maybe she will look into this. I really appreciate this yall.

Doctors today... fuckin' idiots are still prescribing Prednisone over and over. They do it to reduce the body's immune response instead of looking at why the intestinal lining would thin. Happens to my wife after each pregnancy.. what changes? Her fuckin' hormone levels drop to very low after being very high while carrying/growing a child. Doctors are in too much of a rush to deduce the real problem or even really give a shit. I piss them off every time by just asking "How will that help?" and then ask them to go into detail how the medication works and what results they hope to see... Half of these fuctards do not really know what and why they are prescribing.. very slow to look at what really works.. 1 in 100... have to be diligent to find a good doc these days.... end of rant...

I had my first outbreak of Ulcerative Colitis this time last year. Actually Around September....took 2 months to diagnose it. By the time I started meds I was barely able to bend over and pick up a piece of paper without bracing myself against a wall. Felt like I was 100 years old. Started Prednisone on Colozal...then weaned off the predisone by Jan, 2007. When I finally got back to the gym in February I'd lost ONE HALF of my strength.
Let me tell you guys there is nothing like realizing a decade+ of hard work has gone down the toilet. SUCKS big time. I did a lot of reading on test and Hgh as possible treatments. I'm not convinced. I had run hgh for 9 months just prededing my outbreak at 4iu/day. So it did nothing I can tell to Prevent it I just finished another 9 month run of hgh, and I started cruising on 100 Mg Test E back in July. Anyway, 10-11 months later I'm back to where I was + some. This is a really fucked up disease, people with it will try anything to avoid an outbreak (or flare). Quote:

I was diagnosed with the "flesh eating virus" back in Oct 2007. I weighed 196at 5'10" going in but after 6 weeks sand 11 surgeries later I am down to 158..I have no endurance and am still am handicapped due to my legs injuries and the loss of tissue I endured that had to be removed from my lower glutes to my calf. It is devistating in more than one way including depression. Does anyone have a life rej or rehab center willing to work with me with growth ansd test to rebuild?? I wish it was 2007 beginning where all the sources were not being so persecuted. My needs are more than legit!!
