Maybe you cut yourself and got some type of bacteria in
the wound. I believe most abcesses are local to a wound
site. Probably isnt gear related unless you are somehow
allergic to it.

Was your whole hand swollen or was there an actual lump?

abcesses can form anywhere, but only where the infection started. could also be an allergic reaction if you touched something you're highly allergic to and you had and open cut.

Just keep an eye on it. I had an infection (non gear related) that landed me in the hospital for 5 days. It was a hybrid staph known as MRSA. Very common in the combat sports these days. Normal antibiotics won't kill it, so it needs to be cultured. So, if it doesn't start improving quickly, get it checked again. I know two people who almost lost limbs cuz of that shit and a mma fighter I know just ended up paralyzed from it attacking his spine and CNS. Nothing to fuck around with, serious shit.

Yeah bro, see if they will cut and drain it. If anything, that usually helps get rid of some of the pain/pressure feeling. Can you tell I've done this a few times, LOL. Anyway, don't let the wound close up then, keep it open and draining, change the bandage frequently, and use bacitracin to kepp other bacterias out and to help keep the wound open. Trust me.

Oh yeah, they shoudl culture it when they cut it, but just double check. Last thing you want is them just guessing and prescribing random antibiotics. That attitude is half the reason there are so many drug resistant infections in the first place.

Yeah bro, that is what they told my friend, now he is paralyzed from the waist down! They told him it was a spider bite on his back, then the infection worked into his nerves, etc. The first time I had MRSA, I had to tell the doctor what it was, cuz they didn't know. They asked me if I hung out in cancer wards because those are the only people that get MRSA. I told the doc repeatedly and finally had somebody from the Center for Disease Control call them. Another friend, they told him he tore his bicep, by the time they figured out it was staph, they thought he would lose his arm.

Not trying to scare you, just really saying keep a close eye. The medical profession is all about rushing you through these days. It is hard to get them to listen to you and they just want you out the dorr and payin tha billz! They usually are not half as current as they should be when it comes to shit like this.

By the way, you can always cut it yourself, then they have no excuse not to culture it.
