Default training around back injury

As i have sciatica at the moment ive not trained in 3 weeks.

Im going to go to the gym tomorrow to get back into it a bit.
ive not really lost any gains and started a new cycle 2 weeks ago.

I know at the moment i wont be able to train my lower back or legs due to the pinched nerve.

now maybe im wrong in this but should i hit just 2 training session a week with for example.

monday : chest and triceps

wednesday : shoulders and biceps

or should i hit the muscles in a different fashion.

any ideas people in how to train around this nerve problem

thanks

It all depends on how serious your injury is. I've had many injuries and instead of sitting them out I felt it would be a better idea to rehab them. Sure, it might sound like nothing to us but some leg work like leg extensions and maybe some machine low rows light wouldn't hurt. I personally think it would be a good idea to start light just so your body starts getting use to it to avoid injury later as some people just go from an injury to the same one for being unpatient and trying some moderate/heavy weight.

I think your split is fine if you choose to take that route. I don't see a problem with it.

Leaving out the back will result in a muscle imbalance especially on steroids... The stronger chest muscle will pull on the shoulder joint and could lead to an injury... These guys walking around in the gym with hunched over shoulders are prime examples of people who train the chest harder than the back... I would personally not stop working out but have a day you go in the gym and find out exactly what positions cause you pain... Once you find the position or mechanism that causes you pain then you will be able to properly change your workout to something appropriate that will not cause imbalances... I would guess there are some back exercises that will not cause you discomfort...
