Default What is your biggest shortcoming as a bodybuilder?

Basically, what is your biggest flaw that keeps you from being where you want to be right now?

For some it will be genetics, for some it will be diet or training, for others it will be alcohol or drugs.....but be honest, because i'm going to try to tie in this thread with another one real soon.

For me personally, its training lately....ever since I got married I have neglected my training. The big one has always been diet though....I don't eat enough, or frequently enough. I sometimes work for 8-10 hours straight with no break and forget to eat. When I eat its usually high in protein, but also in fat and alot of times carbs too. A high fat diet is my biggest problem....and i'm sure it also has to do with the frequency of my meals because I eat a big meal and then stay full for a really long time (which coincides with me working 8-10 hours straight). Its convenient for my life, but bad for my bodybuilding goals.

How about everyone else?

Without gear, I'm a hard-gainer. I don't always get enough sleep. I love to lift but hate to run. I do cardio in punchout drills, bagwork, jumprope, sparring and a simple aerobic warm-up routine I learned in TKD a few years ago. I know I need to be running though.

Diet.I prefer to drink my shakes secretly,so normally it would be in rest periods. However, occasionally there are some inevitable event happen which causes me to miss the timing. This problem doesn't stop when I go back home during the weekend,as my parents discourage high protein intake in my diet.

$$$ <------

the training is the easy part, i love it, the diet is hard, but it becomes a part of you, after so long.

the only thing that is beyond my grasp at this time is $$$, most successful pros and amateurs alike, have sponsorships, and those who don't rarely get anywhere.

look at a guy like gustavo badell, or darrem charles, for example, they where around sponsorless for 8 years, and they where sub par until they signed that big money mt contract and then with six figure incomes they can afford to do what they need to do, fast forward 2 years later and they are making huge improvements, 2 more years and they are winning pro shows or placing in the toip 5 regularly.

same with cutler, after winning the nationals and getting his procard, he wasn't doing shit, he was a decent bodybuilder, then he signed with iss for big money and started improving, then shortly after he jumped ship to mt and made more progress in 4 years than he has his whole career.

its all about the $$$, you need it to buy the food, and the drugs, and to hire the kind of people needed to reach those levels, nobody in the pro ranks who is winning shows is sponsorless.

this shit is expensive, especially if you want to be a pro, or reach that kind of size.

I agree its hard to be 110% focused(on training, eating, how you should look physically 3months from now, ect.,) when you are worried about what other people are thinking.
Drinking your shakes secretly I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT LIKE THAT.
This is something I do with out thinking.
Im guilty too. If I told you my story you would cry.

The important thing is are these your goals or theirs?(mom or dad,friends,peers,classmates,co-workers,neighbors,ect.)?
Are they going to benifit from your Hard Work!?NO
So that makes sense that they are not to exicited about you being a "GYM RAT or Musclehead" (or the benefits you get from being healthy.)
If the person critisizing you is older (uncle or co worker) they are just upset
cause:#1. THEY PROBABLY DIDNT DO SHIT IN THERE PRIME, SO THEY SOMEHOW HATE ON YOU CAUSE THEY:"didnt have all the fancy equipment when I was young"OR SOME OTHER B.S. EXCUSE. (got a bad knee from 1971 snow storm)

#2.IF THE PERSON IS YOUR AGE THEN ITS CAUSE THEY HAVE NO SELF-CONFIDENCE,SO THEY TALK BAD ABOUT YOU CAUSE THEY KNOW THEY COULD NEVER DO SHIT THEMSELVES.

YOUR GOALS ARE YOUR GOALS
YOUR BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS ARE YOURS

This needs to be the last thing holdin you back.
Keep focused bro

thats very true.....i know my diet would be better if i could spend the money to go out to eat for every meal. cooking for yourself is such a pain in the ass and i think i only eat a balanced meal half the time at best. while i try to make sure i get enough protein when cooking for myself i know i dont eat the fruits and veggies i should so i'm not getting enough vitamins.

plus my wife doesnt cook....and she nor my stepson like any vegetables besides starches and iceburg lettuce (he gets it from her)....so cooking side dishes for only yourself when you have to cook the rest of the meal for everyoen REALLY sucks.
