A weird theoretical.

When I do the 16 hour afternoon/night shift, I catch myself thinking some batty thoughts. Most especially if I listen to coast to coast am. The other night I remembered something I learned in 8th grade social studies about the former soviet union.

We can all see that the russkies are acting alot more bolshy than in previous years (the whole gov't is practically ex-KGB.) what with people being poisoned with radioactive substances and such. Putin presents the air of a hardcore commie, and always has.

Now going back to 8th grade social studies, our class learned that under
an ultra-thick layer of ice in Siberia (permafrost) there lies such an abundance of oil that it dwarfs ALL middle eastern oil resources.

If that's true, then could global warming melt that permafrost completely or just enough to where the russians can begin to tap in and control the world's largest oil source? If this were to happen and by the time it does, if the United States is not yet energy independent, I can see a resurgence of not only the USSR but a rise in communism unlike anything the world has ever witnessed. A new world order.

With the help of China, Russia could obtain all the money for drilling and research and technology that they would ever need. Russia promises all the former soviet satellites wealth and prosperity in exchange for re-annexation.
Seeing as how in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and Russia for that matter people wait in line for days in hopes of getting a loaf of bread and a roll of toilet paper, does one think that they'd not gladly oblidge?

Korea would no longer be broke as they'd be on the gravy train too, they would bribe S. Korea into a bloodless unification, one that involves people not having to eat squid, rats, dogs, and belut everyday. Would they rather embrace a prosperous communist empire, or drink piss to try and stay alive because there's too little fresh water to go around?

At this point, any capitalist nation that doesn't rely on foreign energy is shit out of luck, because the new world order is spreading. The people of most, if not all SE Asia wants on after seeing Vietnam and Cambodia and Laos basking in riches of the new world order.

In latin america, Cuba and Venezuela are acting chummy, Venezuela joins the pact. SInce the latin american people have historically had an affinity for revolutionary thought and marxism, successful bloody coups ensue. Most noteably in Mexico. Only energy independent Brazil survives intact.

The United States, and Western Europe is now the third world. Canada thriving on sand-oil from BC is making it on it's own, producing 3 million barrels a day. Not enough to share, but enough to live on.
