There was a question on another board that I anwered about this. The following is my personal H2O schedule. Every"body" is different, this is what works for me.
You cannot trick the body into anything, its a lot smarter than you are. If you cut sodium out of your diet, after a while the body begins to produce it internally becuase its not getting it from the outside. There are feedback mechanisms throughout the body to keep it regulated. Same with water, if you cut it out, the body clings to anything it can get because it now feels thirsty so to speak. The following is if your show is on saturday. Every day up until the last week water consuption is at 2 gallons a day. Mon- Water comsuption cut in half. Sart drinking a gallon a day spread out as evenly as possible Tue- Start taking a natural/herbal diuretic, do not use Lasix (risk vs. payoff) start on tue with a low dose, increasing slowly through the rest of the week Mon-Thu- Can substitute a little bit of diet tea for water. As your body is so weak right now the caffiene will feel good and being that tea is a natural diuretic as well, this is still working twoards your goal Tue-Thu- Creatine in AM. This will help water from your body move into your muscles....you actually want this Thursday night- Water consumption stops. Friday- Still taking diuretics, you are allowed one 12oz bottle through the entire day. Take small sips, lol, it lasts longer this way Sat - Morning, as needed only to wash down breakfast before pre judging. Last edited by RxGenes : 04-26-2006 at 06:58 AM. |

looks pretty good....
Aldactone (spironolactone) is a good diuretic substitute for Lasix. it wont leave you flat and will suppress your body's natural desire to retain water when you're not intaking enough.

I had a pro write this up for me, but he never told me which diuretic to use. He just said get a "natural diuretic". I took "diurex" but there was so much caffene I was up all night. I was considering using dandilion root this year but maybe I'll look into aldactone. Is it available in health stores or should I look online somewhere ? |

I've done two different water depleting methods for my last 2 comps and used aldactone for both at 50mg ed starting sunday for a saturday show.
The first time I drank 2-3gallons on sun-tue and upped my sodium intake. Then on wed I cut it to 64oz and also cut the sodium and only had 1-2 chicken breasts for the entire day and started carb loading with white potatoes and white rice every 1-1.5 hrs. (1/2 cup of rice or 1 potato). On Thursday I cut the water in half again and kept loading every 1.5-2hrs. Also I had a steak before bed to help bring out vascularity. Friday I cut the water in half again and switched from white ptoatoes to sweet and white rice to brown rice or oatmeal and followed up with a steak again before bed. I ended up very cut but still a lil flat and wound up taking 3rd out of about 20 competitors. The second time I just cut my water 2 days out and had 64oz on thu and 32oz on fri but cut the water completely after 6pm on fri. But I still got third. This time around I'm going to add a dyazide on friday night and maybe one on saturday but am only going to load on white rice. After doing this twice I realize my body isn't very carb sensitive to potatoes. Plus I'm going to have 6 oz of water with every meal. I've read a few books and did a lil reasearch and found you need some water to drive the glycogens to your muscles. hey can't get there with no ride. Plus the diuretiocs will shed keep you from spilling over. Hopefully this is the formula for me and maybe it will work for others. Its just so hard not to drink anything when your dying of thirst. |

My PT always did a pretty standard 4 week water schedule before a contest...
Week 1: One Gallon/Day Week 2: Two Gallon/Day Week 3: Three Gallon/Day Week 4: One-Half Gallon/Day I don't know what else he was taking (he was natural up until I introduced him to AAS a few weeks ago), but he was definately tracing-paper thin.
