I hope you guys saw the 3rd fight between Tito and Shamrock last night because it was on Spike TV not PPV. The fight itself wasn't real impressive because it was basically like a repeat of the last fight where Tito took down Shamrock and then beat him till KO on the ground. But what was impressive is what was said after the fight. Shamrock was humbled and acknowledged Tito as a good fighter instead of a punk and Tito gave respect to Shamrock (after all, he has earned it over the years). I expected the response from Shamrock after Tito beat the crap out of him for the 3rd time, but Tito's response shocked me. I must say I have a new respect for Tito Ortiz now.

Yeah it was good to see some respect both ways. Good stuff.
Of course it was bound to end the same way. But this time I clearly saw an option that Shamrock failed to use. It was back to basics BJJ that he should have opted for! From his guard, Shamrock could have used his feet to push on Tito's thighs to flatten him out (he never even made the attempt), then wrap his legs over Tito's so that he couldn't posture up and pound on him anymore. It was a textbook setup for it. From there I don't know what he could have done.... but at least it would have prevented more damage and used up a little of Tito's energy trying to move out of it. It just would have prolonged the inevitable though. He just didn't fight like a champion that he was. That's what I like about guys like Franklin, GSP, and Hughes.... if they get into a moment like that - they THINK smart, and use every available option. Shamrock didn't fight smart. |

Tito actually had a very good night with 2 of his fighters winning along with himself. I will say that Matt Hammill needs a ton of work still, if he would have fought a better opponent and one that is strong in submissions he would have been fucked.
I think the best fight for me is watching Ed "little bitch" Herman getting his ass kicked. This guy deserves to have his loss. Arrogant fucker thought he was the baddest mother on TUF3 and has lost 2 straight now. Wonder if Dana White is still happy he gaveout that 6 figure contract to him?? If he was smart he would go cry to Tito and hope Tito offered to train him. His career in the UFC otherwise will end very quickly. I am glad however that Tito and Ken made up, was it for real-- I am not 100% sure, but at least it looked good for the camera and they both got paid.

That was actually really cool. Tito even acknowledged Shamrock as a fighter he looked up to. And I'm glad Shamrock decided to go out with some class.
