Shes irritating the hell out of me. Just had a baby 15 weeks ago and looks great all things considering. Hell she could be 300lbs and happy and I could care less but shes not. She's about half that and just hates the way she looks.
Hard to workout when u got a baby but we got a tredmill, that i need to fix. But what are some suggestions on training. I"m thinking Full body workouts 3x per week and cardio 5x. She had previously lost about 15lbs and toned up before she got prego which i think helped her alot but has lost that now obviously. My questions are what would u suggest for Cardio times on weight days?? Before weights or right after. I'd say morning and weights evening but i dont think thats gonna happen with a baby to take care of too. Her schedule is like this.. Goes to work at 6:30pm till 3 or 4am. Get to bed asap and up around 10am when the baby wakes up to feed. I work from 8am till 5pm. She will have time during the day to do the cardio at home but no weights and the gym we used to belong to is clear across town now and kinda inconvenient. THinking of getting a bench and some small DB's for her. Allthough she is more of a machine girl and cant seem to get her off it. Ideas and thoughts are very much welcomed. Thanks |

For weights maybe get her a couple sets of DB's to use at home.
Get her to start slow. Maybe 30 minute cardio sessions on cardio days and a total of 45 minutes of weights and cardio on weight days. After a couple weeks she could up the times. On the treadmill the best thing would be uphill walking. Not too fast but not slow. Try to not let her stress out about her looks. It's understandable to gain some weight after having a baby. |

I'd suggest HIIT. Start at 3 x week for 20 minutes on the treadmill. Warmup for 5 at a brisk pace, then run balls out fo 60 seconds followed by 60 seconds of that brisk walking. Repeat. Follow it up with a cool down for 5. Total time on treadmill = 30 minutes.
If she can't do 10 cycles right away, have her do 5 or 6 to start. Don't be concerned about how fast she's going. Just make sure her max heart rate (heart rate taken during cool down) is where it should be. I don't know her age, but I'm 33 and try to get my heart rate up to 165-175. this will keep her burning fat long after cardio is over. Also - cardio after weights. If she does cardio before, she won't have the strength or stamina to lift like she should. Another option would be to invest in "The Firm" series. I have these DVD's and they combine weights and cardio for a kick ass 1 hour workout. You never grow out of them - just up your weights when it gets too easy. http://www.firmdirect.com/homepage.a...ord=the%20firm I still use these DVD's and I've had them for 5 years. Good investment. She'll need the 14 inch step and 3 sets of weights to start. You can get the whole package for under $100. |

Got any pawn shops nearby? You can check there for free weights or something like a bow flex, etc. Something like that would probably get more use by you both...and if she see's you working out I bet she'll be joining you. Fix the treadmill and start her (and maybe you) walking on a slight incline, up the incline every few days them maybe a slow jog.....maybe set your sights on a 5k next Spring

check www.craigslist.com for used exercise equipment. you can get a full body home gym used for about $200 on there.
also, i agree cardio after the weight workout. not only will she have more strength for the weights, but its proven that cardio burns more fat after a weight workout than before.....cardio before the weights is more beneficial for your cardiovascular health. but it needs to be low intensity cardio for maximum fat burning....dont want to burn glycogen for energy by getting the heart rate up too high. also, 40 minutes is the point in which females start burning maximum fat during a cardio workout. i would say 1 hour of low intensity cardio 4-5 times a week. also, get her some nolvadex....does wonders for estrogen related fat loss.

Thanks for the advice ANONN. I Know she usually does like 30min on the treadmill and another 30 on the Eliptical as it's her weapon of choice. |

Thanks for the ideas guys. I just started back to work this week and it's gonna be tough to work for the wife and myself.I'm dead tired after work and she's tired all day due to lack of sleep so hopefully I"ll be able to put the ideas to work here soon. The baby just takes up soooo much time. |
