So I just got blood drawn to check my testosterone levels to see if I need TRT/HRT.
I wiil go over the results with my doc in 2 weeks. What are the levels for Low, Average, & High, Testosterone, that show up on blood tests? I just wanna be prepared for when I see the results with the doc. Also he's checking both free & bound, so does any1 know the numbers for both or does only "free testosterone" matter? Thanks in advance. |

A third of the way down the page it says normal results range from low 300ng/dl to high of 1200ng/dl Also says free test ranges from 8.7pg/ml to 25pg/ml |

I've seen some tetsts that say that the high levels can go up to 1600ng/dl. In fact I have them in my folder of all my labs. It should be noted that this average range (300-1200, 0r 1600) is for an adult male 18-32. It should also be noted that different races have different range levels with African and Mediterranean Caucasian men in the highest range levels, Asian men in the lowest with hispanics and other caucasians hovering around the middle. From the studies I've seen the ranges of the African men seem to drop off faster as age progresses while Caucasians stay more stable until around 40 and they, too, then drop off at the same pace.

this is very inetersting noname, thanks for sharing it.
So which of the two testosterones does one need to be more concerned about, Free or Bound? Does one matter more than the other? At first my doc only wanted to check the Free, but I insisted he check both.. What should I look for when going over the results? |

How old are you?
THe only way that you are going to get HRT prescribed to you is if you are either below the low end of the range (less than about 300ng/dl) or in the bottom quartile of the normal range - that is, unless your doctor is at a HRT clinic or something like that, or is one of the few who believe in keep people in the higher ranges for optimal health. THere is a link to an article on this site, in the HRT forum, in a post by Felon for Life entitled Low Testosterone = Death or something like that. Get that article, print it, take it to your doctor. It is not a specific study on testosterone but the results are hard to disagree with. Finally, if you doctor wont give you HRT, fire him and get another one. These people work for us. If you have legit symptoms and the doc is afraid to prescribe because of the stigma, he doesn't deserve to have you as a patient and doesn't deserve your money. |

I'm in my low-mid 30's but have had some disgusting symptoms since before I ever started AAS.
I searched but could not find that article "Low Testosterone = death" |

A acquaintence of mine is in his late 40's and has been telling me for months that his doctor won't prescribe him hrt. instead he's been prescribed this transdermal testosterone cream that stinks to high heaven and dose not significantly raise his levels. Don't be like him, find a doctor who has the knowledge and the balls to do the right thing.
Peace and good health to you, M2M

oh, if any doc prescribes you the transdermal stuff, use it for a month and tell him that it gives you a skin rash and you want to do something else. If he doesn't give you injectible the next month - the copayment is a lot lower, too, fire his ass and get a different doctor.
