Then why would I bother? Srsly. It's mass I'm after. Realistically I'm not gonna get super hyooge at my age, but I want more than I've got and I'll happily kick my own ass to get it. I just need to figure out a way that will let me do that consistently without missing any scheduled workouts because I ran into overtraining and made myself sick.

You can however tone up nice and be able to walk on a daily basis with no pain. If your training for comps then this is def not an option, although I would seriously consider the pros n cons to competing with ur status. You may find the cons out weight the pros. Ie. Ur injuries. Not getting sick. Not being in pain ed. Just some food for thought.

No pain, no gain.
I doubt you'd take it if somebody gave you the same advice, even if it was entirely true and sensible. I'm after muscle mass, as much as a 40 year old chick can realistically get, and am not willing to let that goal go.
