WARNING: Lying About Refs

Its come to my attention lately that several members here are using other Vet/VIP members as their "refs" (references) without asking permission. This is not acceptable, but i'll give you a couple example scenarios:

1) two members have already been banned for giving another members name as a ref that they have never even done business with, thinking that the person they gave it to will not check. this is obviously lying and thats why i banned them.

2) other members have used someone as a ref that they did some business with, but didnt get that members permission to use them as a ref first. why is it important you ask their permission? well, mostly because they might not feel comfortable enough with you to be your reference....everyone's definition of comfort is different. if you're a new member and did one transaction where you BOUGHT items from a Veteran member then you might think thats enough to use him as a reference.....but we're talking about a CHARACTER reference. how can he vouch for your character as an honest person when you just sent him money.....when you are the BUYER you dont have an opportunity to be dishonest because if you dont send money, the seller just wont send product, so that doesnt say anything for your character.


Basically, use some common sense and dont think that someone is going to vouch for you until you've damn well proven yourself to them....and in any given situation, always ASK FIRST before using another member as a reference.


PS - from now on anyone I hear about using a reference without that person's permission gets an automatic permanent ban.
