And they know it, which could be a problem.
When I see police officers I make sure to smile and nod, like I'm glad to see them. My body language and expression says that I'm happy they are there, protecting good honest citizens like me. Guess who will never set off their cop radar or look suspicious to them no matter what I have in my pocket.
If it's an unmarked car that an innocent citizen is not supposed to recognize as a cop's, just staying calm and cool and smiling like you have nothing to worry about and nothing to hide works fine.
