Seriously, if you're thinking about doing something along these lines, I suggest that you take in underground or, at the very least, through back channels. And the sooner the better.
But, in the end, it really isn't worth it. Even beating the shit out of the guy with just your fists is enough to draw a felonious assault charge. If you decide to use a bat and break some of his ribs or you use an electric drill and permanently take out his kneecaps (always a nice way to send a message - the gift that keeps on gimping), then you've gone anywhere from assault with deadly weapon to attempted murder (depending on how much emotion you put into it).
Should you get really carried away, then that's straight up murder. That's where the whole premeditated thing about talking about it on-line will come back and bite you in the ass. (If you decide to do anything along any of these lines, make sure that you set fire to the entire scene - thermite the car, burn down the house, etc. - those CSI bastards really are that good. Not as quick as on TV, but good nonetheless. Make sure that there are no hairs, prints, fibers or blood to link you to the scene. The cleanest way to do this is to just burn everything.)
And then, even if you get out of it with only the assault charge, then LE is going to find out why you beat his ass. Then they are going to go rifle through your house looking for any and all paraphernalia or gear. Not only do you get charged and, likely, do time - you end up on LE's radar screen and it totally fucks up your own life. At the very least, they'll be watching you more closely, waiting for a time when they know you've got a bunch of gear on-hand so they can make one of their famous media outbursts - "Massive Steroid Bust in Tulsa, Oklahoma (on the campus of Orel Roberts University)!"
And, just that easily, do random musings on the Internet become the total and complete collapse of your life. And for what? For taking revenge on someone whose scamming probably didn't directly affect you (assuming that you're not the one that got scammed, merely a member of the brute squad that takes these guys down)? So, what you are doing is you are puting your entire life on the line for someone else's loss and a principle. Now I'm all for principles, but you got to chose the battles that you fight and those other things that are completely lose/lose, you have to leave those for nature/karma/someone with nothing to lose to take care of.
The best thing that can be done in these situations is to post the information as quickly as possible so that Anon, the moderators and/or the vets (IIW and Wu spring to mind) review the data and get the message out to other members and other boards that this person is now a scammer. These things flow like fire through our community and, if handled properly, the scammer would soon be outed throughout the net and effectively ostracized from our little family here and banned from not ony this board but, hopefully, banned at as many other boards whose owners can't bought.
