A 15 year old kid shot another kid to death for asking to be his valentine. WTF is wrong with our society that a boy has to feel so obsessively threatened over the sexual orientation of another boy that he destroys both their lives? WTF is wrong with saying "no thanks I am not gay" and moving on with your life like a normal sane person, instead of getting freakishly, violently obsessed with the sex lives of other people?
Normal people who are confident and secure about their own sexuality don't particularly give a shit who some other dude sleeps with. Only sick, crazy people are so concerned with other people's sexuality that they have to respond violently to the mere suggestion of gayness. Who are they really lashing out against when the response is that extreme and that personal?
There is something deeply wrong with a society that constantly sends messages that it's okay to feel hatred and contempt of other people because of their sexual orientation. The end result is that one boy is dead and another boy's life is ruined. Think hard about what happened here and about the message you're sending the next time you call somebody a faggot or a homo.
