Ok, not to take this out on a limb but there are 2 enzymes we check post heart attack. One is CPK and the second is Troponin levels. As a side note, if you do take statins to control cholesterol one of the issues to be aware of in rare cases is that it can cause damage to skeletal muscle and cause pain. This is called rhabdomyolisis and is monitored in regular chemistry bloodwork by looking at CPK levels. If they are too high they will reduce or stop the statin.
