Default Re: Is Anyone Else Functional Training ???

About the only functional training I do is for Golf. I love the cables for that. Other than that; I'm just trying to look good naked

I know in BJJ/MMA the functional aspect is the main concern, and that traditional BBing & Pwr Lfting can impede on performance, actually causing more injuries and microtraumas due to the imbalances created in the muscles & stabilizers.

I think Grey Cook stated it best when he wrote...
"The way an athlete moves, not the way an athlete looks, defines the athlete. For example, modern weight-training practices often have more in common with body building than with sports performance or movement enhancement." - Athletic Body In Balance - Human Kinetics series
Of course this is in refrence to sports, not body building.

I rarely train like a bb anymore, but I do condition anerobic and aerobicly, with a lot of varied core, Pilates, jumping rope, kettlebells, plyometric drills, balance training and a variety of sport specific powerlifts(power cleans, clean & press, front squats, ect.).

HOLLA!!!
