As someone who has alot of experience with slin let me tell you guys a few things.....and don't attempt everything i tell you because i'm just a crazy fucker
1) Humulin R and Humalog are VERY different. they're like night and day infact. 8iu of Humulin R won't do shit to you, even after an hour with no carbs....while 8iu of Humalog will make you dizzy in 15 minutes.
Humulin-R:
I did this alot in college when i had my sights set on competing and i was trying to bulk up alot. I started at 10iu PWO and then slammed a 100g of carb drink 15 minutes later. It didnt do shit for me. After some trial and error, i realized that it takes up to 1hr for Humulin R to "hit" you...and that is on an empty stomach. Also, for me (210lbs in college @ 5'10) i didn't get good gains off of it until i reached a PWO dose of 25-27iu. I did 30iu alot of times but never went over that....27-30iu seemed to be the magic number for me. Also, when the insulin hits you will first get very confused and disoriented and then insanely hungry in the snap of a finger. Slam a 100g carb drink and those effects subside, but 5 minutes later you're still insanely hungry. Within the 1hr following my Humulin R shot i would consume about 250g of liquid carbs and 100-150g of non-fat protein powder. My first time I gained 9 pounds in 4 days and even looked leaner. I dabbled with Humulin R off and on for the next few years, often at the beginning of a bulking cycle or during PCT...always got great results, mostly i think from the increased appetite. Never got much fat gain because if you wait for the slin to actually "hit" you instead of taking in your carbs prematurely it actually triggers a growth hormone release naturally. However, once you start feeling dizzy keep in mind you've got about 5 minutes until you pass out.....so have your carb drink in your hand ready! Also, Humulin R can be used effectively in a cutting cycle to keep you in ketosis throughout the day by taking 5iu a couple times a day, which keeps your bloodsugar down following meals.
Humalog:
I tried this about a year ago for the first time. It completely sucked ass. It makes you dizzy in 10-15 minutes off of as little of a dose as 8-12iu, but however it does not increase your appetite at all. It actually makes me feel a little queezy. So after drinking a typical 50g protein/100g carb shake my stomach was full. Since i dont think i was able to take in enough carbs soon enough, the end result was my muscles always looked "flat". When my appetite did come back, it was a couple hours later and i think the Humalog was worn off. Everyone who talks aobut Humalog and how great it is for bodybuilding makes me think theyre just regurgitating some Bill Roberts crap and have never tried it for themselves because personally i think Humalog has no bodybuilding application whatsoever.
